CRB Enhanced Disclosure
To check for Criminal Convictions
As a Registered body, Trust Education applies for Enhanced Disclosures from the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) for all supply teachers who do not have a current valid police check.
We are accredited to carry out Criminal Conviction Enhanced CRB checks directly from our offices – not through any third party. All Trust registered teachers have a valid police check and/or are in the process of obtaining CRB Enhanced Disclosure before placement in any school.
ISA 'Children's List' Check
No teacher shall be placed in a school without an Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) 'Children’s List' check being cleared.
Trust Education has an arrangement with the Department of Children, Schools and Families to use the direct access to the on-line checking system used by LEAs for agencies.
Two Recent Teaching Referees
A minimum of two written professional teaching references, one of which must be from the applicant’s most recent teaching position.
Referees must be senior members of school staff where the candidate has taught. Referees are only contacted in their professional capacities at school, private addresses or telephone numbers are not acceptable.
Current Overseas Police Check
All overseas teachers registered with Trust Education must also provide evidence, in the form of an original certificate, of a valid Police Check undertaken from their country of origin. They are then checked via the CRB "on the same basis as other UK supply teachers: that is every 3 years, or earlier if they have a break of service of 3 months or more or there are grounds for concern about the person’s suitability to work with children".
Trust Education asks all teachers to provide Police Checks from any country in which they have been working or residing in for over one year during the past 5 years. If an overseas police check is unavailable in addition to an enhanced CRB Disclosure, additional checks such as obtaining certificates of good conduct from relevant embassies or police forces are necessary.
Current Working Visa to Teach in the UK
If you are not a citizen of an EU member state you will need to have a current visa or work permit to teach in the UK. This must be arranged prior to your arrival.
Further information on UK work permits can be obtained through their Home Office website or the British High Consulate in your home country.
A visa may also be required before the individual is allowed to enter the UK. For information about this please contact the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. www.ukvisas.gov.uk.
GTC registration for UK QTS Holders
Trust Education has an on-line access facility that allows us to check GTC (General Teaching Council) registration Essential for
all UK QTS Holders.
Two Forms of Identification
On registration all candidates must provide at least two forms of original identification including a form of photo ID. Passport, birth certificate and driving license are accepted.
Each member of the Trust Education team receives a photo identification badge which they are asked to carry with them.
Medical Declaration
All applicants must complete and sign a detailed medical declaration to ensure we know about any condition or disability that might affect the type of placement we offer them. Trust Education is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
Face-to-Face Interview
All candidates meet with their designated consultant for an interview. Areas covered are, past experience, qualifications and training; previous teaching positions, subject specialism and extra curricular strengths. The consultant seeks evidence of their teaching style and sets scenarios to see how the candidate would respond to specific situations that may arise in the classroom. We aim to gain an understanding of the person as well as the teacher in order to provide a personal, successful and trustworthy service.
The extent and nature of some of the questions will be guided by the references if already undertaken.
Experience
Trust Education register fully qualified teachers with classroom experience within the previous 24 months. The majority are much more recent.
Trust Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
