Currently in short supply. You will need one of the following qualifications:
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education.
BTEC National Diploma in Early Years.
NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education.
SVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education.

Teaching Assistants (TA's)
TA's are the para-profesionals, working alongside teachers with an individual or a group of pupils. They become involved in planning, preparation and assessment. TAs may also have more specific roles, for example, taking responsibility for displays, resources or ICT. These TAs are likely to have vocational qualifications, often of a high level.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HTLA's)
Candidates with Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status are highly sought after. Although the position doesn't have an academic qualification, it enables you to receive formal recognition for the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained.
Any experienced TA can apply for HLTA status but it really is necessary to have your headteacher’s approval. You also require Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy (QTS equivalence tests are not currently an acceptable alternative).
